country music has come a long way in the past forty years or so.It has endured a lot of ridicule and has been the butt of a lot jokes. Country music when it started out was played by simple hard working people, who took the good times and the bad times in their lifes and put them to music, and the lyrics was as simple as their lives, it was that simpleness that gave country music it's bad repution. They sang about things like a marriage gone bad,the hard times they had,they sang about going out to have a good time with family and freinds,they sang about famous people they looked up to,they sang about the world around them, I beleive that they used the songs as a way to cope with the hardness of their lives. The rich and the well educated people in most cases made fun of the music and of the people who played and sang it,people like Hank Williams sr. Lefty Frezell,the Carter family,and so many more both before and after. These singers did not back away from their music, instead they hung in there and gave it their all.They laid the foundation for what we call country music today. It was a real tragady what happened in Littilton Colorado the school shootings I mean.I really do feel for the parents of the victims. I have listened to a lot of talk on tv and a lot of so called child experts trying to find a way to place the blame on everything from vidio games to cultism to kids with a unhappy life,but really now, while it maybe true that these things may have played a roll in what caused the two shooters to do what they did,lets look at some of the more obvious reasons. 1) I beleive that it is safe to say that these kids had very little adult supervision,what I mean is that for them to have access to the guns and the bombs and the other stuff they had and the parents not knowing about it, tells me that the parents must have been to busy doing their own thing and not being concerned about the activities of their kids, I mean for these kids to have parts of guns and bombs lying around in their bedrooms,well you tell me? 2) We all know that since the mid 70's when all the so called child experts,and the many goverenment agentcies began telling us (parents) that whipping our kids as a form of disipline was wrong and we began to believe them and follow their suggestions well that's when we began to lose control of kids and that is why we are having these kinds of deadly events like in Littlton and in other parts of the country,without proper disipline how are kids to know right from wrong,how are they going to respect other peoples rights and feelings if they are allowed to do what they want to and not have to pay for their actions,The Bible says " spare the rod and spoil the child" this statement does not mean that we should not disipline our children,what it means is that if we do not disipline then what we will have is a child that lacks respect,does not know are care about right and wrong,and expects everyone else to bow to them.I had a freind once that no matter what his two boys did they were never disiplined,I drove him and his two boys to the lake on day to go swimming on the way home I looked in the my rearveiw mirror and saw the two boys ripping the back seat apart and pulling the filling when I said something to their father his response was boys will be boys,needless to say those never rode in my car again and me and their father are no longer freinds.This is just an example of what am talking about.We as parents have a God givin resposability to disipline our children in spite of what the experts and the govenment says,most of the experts probably dont have any children of their own anyway. | My gripe colume | ||||||||||||||||
